… well, not ‘tailed. But you gotta love her trademark hair. She joins the ranks of Gus, Lucas and several others who’ve graced this blog with their trademark locks.

I don’t shoot many “older” newborns as it’s usually best to get them in in those first 6 to 10 days of life. That said, I can’t say I found this little lady difficult at all. Nope. She was as alert as they come – but it gave me a welcome chance to capture some of those beautiful, bright newborn eyes.

Meet Cora.

He slept so soundly during our session I had to pinch myself once or twice as we went from setup to setup with ease. I know there’s a little stinker in my future somewhere, so if it happens to be your newborn, don’t feel bad; I simply had it coming. LOL.

Meet handsome little Jamie, complete with that soft, dreamy swirl of newborn hair. I’ll bet if you close your eyes and get close enough to the screen, you can almost smell his newborn goodness.

Some favorites from our session:

She didn’t make a peep while we were preparing for this shot and I think it’s one of my all-time favorites. You might recall her beautiful mom and big sisters from their colorful maternity session back in August. Having styled that “bed in nature” scene, my mind was already on to the next creative thing we could accomplish for her newborn session.

While I was truly excited to meet her, there was no doubt in my mind she’d be as charming as her two big sisters. Little Francie Jude (don’t you just love her name?!) didn’t disappoint. You’ll be seeing more of her during her first year right here on the blog.

Some of my favorites:

I think I love this one just as much in color as black and white:

She was a true nature baby. And not surprising as mom and dad are surrounded by it on their farm. I fell in love with her name the minute I got their text message from the hospital.

And just a week later, I fell in love with her.

Meet Journee June.

I remember being incredibly humbled when – after seeing multiple friends’ photography sessions through the years and buying a baby shower session gift for yet another of her friends – his mom wrote to me to let me know she was pregnant and said, “I’m so excited – finally I get my own Kami Brady photos.”  I swear I had a cheesy grin on my face for a week over that. Not the over-the-top-I-am-’all that and a bag o’ chips’ kind of grin. Just a truly happy smile and a sense of gratitude. Immediately followed by the feeling that I’d better knock these out of the park. LOL.

I can report that when Sam finally made his arrival, he didn’t disappoint one bit during his newborn session. He slept like a dream. Here are some of my favorites:

First there was little Jax (a few posts down). Now there’s beautiful Josephine. And, soon you’ll see new baby Journee.  It’s a “J” thing over here and I’m loving it. These are some of my favorites from her session. Although I’ve said many times how much I adore a really rich black and white, I’m a color girl at heart. BTW – Josephine’s very talented grandma made the fabulous little bloomers you see on the red chair. (Yep, that’s the sound of my brain working overtime on new color combos I can commission her for). Enjoy!
