Sam l Another beautiful Kansas City newborn
I remember being incredibly humbled when – after seeing multiple friends’ photography sessions through the years and buying a baby shower session gift for yet another of her friends – his mom wrote to me to let me know she was pregnant and said, “I’m so excited – finally I get my own Kami Brady photos.” I swear I had a cheesy grin on my face for a week over that. Not the over-the-top-I-am-’all that and a bag o’ chips’ kind of grin. Just a truly happy smile and a sense of gratitude. Immediately followed by the feeling that I’d better knock these out of the park. LOL.
I can report that when Sam finally made his arrival, he didn’t disappoint one bit during his newborn session. He slept like a dream. Here are some of my favorites:

Newborn Josephine l Kansas City newborn photographer
First there was little Jax (a few posts down). Now there’s beautiful Josephine. And, soon you’ll see new baby Journee. It’s a “J” thing over here and I’m loving it. These are some of my favorites from her session. Although I’ve said many times how much I adore a really rich black and white, I’m a color girl at heart. BTW – Josephine’s very talented grandma made the fabulous little bloomers you see on the red chair. (Yep, that’s the sound of my brain working overtime on new color combos I can commission her for). Enjoy!

Jax: Newborn session l Kansas City newborn photographer
Such a good baby – and Mom tells me he’s quite the little snuggler. (One of my favorite parts of bringing home a new baby … the smell and feel of them all curled up on your chest.) I love his name and think he’s got a future as an author or an actor. Maybe even a stuntman. I can see his name in print or lights now. In the meantime, he’ll have to do with an appearance on my blog.
Meet Jax.

Sometimes the best shots are unscripted. I caught this next one when we were done with our session and I was putting props away and wrapping things up. Dad has just sat down with Jax in the corner of the studio and this moment made my heart skip a beat:
