Welcome to my photography blog l Kansas City newborn and child photographer
I’m a newborn, child and high school senior photographer located in Kansas City and this is my blog — the place where I post peeks each week from the latest sessions as well as updates on scheduling, special promotions and more. You’re also invited to check out my full website at www.kamibradyphotography.com. Beneath each post here, after the very last image, is a Comments section where you can leave a comment or question. I love hearing from you!
On any given page (including the Archives), you’ll see the 4 most recent sessions, so click on the little pink “Older Blog Posts” link at the bottom of any page to see more. You can also browse by month/category on the Archives tab above or hit the Subscribe tab and receive an e-mail when a new post is published. Thanks for stopping by!
Now booking September through November sessions:
The summer months are booked for Signature Sessions, but I plan to hold at least one mini session day in July. If you’d like to be added to my wait list for a slot during that time or in the event of a cancellation, please let me know. I am now booking for September through November. As I hold out a specific number of newborn sessions each month to ensure I offer everyone my very best time and attention, it’s never too soon to get on the books for maternity and/or newborn sessions. If you’re an expectant mother, schedule your session prior to the baby’s birth to ensure we hold time slots around your baby’s due date for a newborn session within the first 5-10 days of life.

WOW! Kami your photo’s are incredible. Mom and I ran into your Mom in Walmart a couple of weeks ago and she said you had a website and were going to be featured in a couple of local magazines. Which ones? We will keep an eye out for them. I’m so glad to see you are having so much fun with this. Looks like you have an adorable model to practice on too. I can’t believe she is 3 already. They grow too fast! Take care.

Kami, I can’t get over your exquisite sense of colour. Every single last one of your photographs grabs my attention and conveys such a mood. I really am impressed at how talented you are and so wish you could come over to Scotland to capture the beauty here and us with it (I think I’d manage to end up looking pretty good thanks to your camera magic). Keep up the good work!

Gretchen: Class of 2011 l Kansas high school senior photographer
I’m trying out a new blog “frame” (I promise to eventually settle on one … this one might just be it) and who better to showcase than one of my recent Kansas City high school seniors: Gretchen. After back-to-back newborns, I was loving the time I got to spend with her and her mom on a beautiful Saturday morning. I love fashion, love fashion photography even more and definitely get excited for the seniors. While I will shoot as many outfits as we can work in, I’ve found the perfect number seems to be about 4 or 5 for the girls and 2-3 for the guys. Gretchen and her mom did a fabulous job creating both variety, color and “texture” in her different outfits – all in a way that reflects Gretchen’s own personal style. After all, that’s what senior sessions are all about – showcasing your personal style and showing off your personality.
Thank you Kathleen and Gretchen for wonderful time well spent – I enjoyed every minute of our session!

Sam l Another beautiful Kansas City newborn
I remember being incredibly humbled when – after seeing multiple friends’ photography sessions through the years and buying a baby shower session gift for yet another of her friends – his mom wrote to me to let me know she was pregnant and said, “I’m so excited – finally I get my own Kami Brady photos.” I swear I had a cheesy grin on my face for a week over that. Not the over-the-top-I-am-’all that and a bag o’ chips’ kind of grin. Just a truly happy smile and a sense of gratitude. Immediately followed by the feeling that I’d better knock these out of the park. LOL.
I can report that when Sam finally made his arrival, he didn’t disappoint one bit during his newborn session. He slept like a dream. Here are some of my favorites:

Sweet Sam is a pretty amazing child. Though it always helps to have such a sweet face to photograph, you do have talent Kami. Great job. I love them.

Bohemian mama or “How to look simply amazing while pregnant in the heat of a Kansas summer”
I shot their family photos last fall and was delighted to get the call that they were expecting baby number three in late summer. Almost immediately, my brain was working overtime on several visions I had for the maternity session and I spent the last three months looking for the perfect shabby white bed and spread, and then, the perfect spot easily accessible from the road with any remaining wildflowers blooming. In my quest for to match what was in my head, I enlisted the help of my amazing creative friend, Kimberly Thomas. (She’s just begun refinishing vintage furniture for photographers and consumers and I can’t wait to share more of that with you, too). Without so much as a simple promise of instant fame right here on the blog (LOL) or even a great lunch, she jumped right in and became an assistant/designer/stylist/babysitter all rolled into one fabulous framework. Did I mention it was nearly 100 degrees the morning we shot this? Or that the boards that support the box springs didn’t quite fit the frame and required a last-minute “fix”? Did I mention I was going on my second consecutive week of very late nights and was hosting house guests that week, too?
Add “keeper-of-my-sanity” to Kimberly’s list of talents, too.
In the end, we had a bed full of color, a belly and two beautiful girls that truly helped us take our “bohemian mama” vision and make it reality. It certainly didn’t hurt that mom could easily be modeling designer maternity wear. Stunning almost seems too inadequate a word to describe her.
I can’t wait to meet their newest family member – we’ll be doing a newborn session in about three weeks. In the meantime, enjoy some of my favorites from our session:

You are so very welcome! I LOVE that you “get” the vision in things and are just as excited as I am when we achieve that vision. Can’t wait to meet your newest little beauty.

Kami~ I cannot thank you enough for making this photo shoot a success and so painless. You work so hard, put so much thought into every little detail, have mad talent and it shows. So looking fwd to our newborn session!

Wow.
This was one of my first shots (minus the post-processing effect, of course) of her session downtown and all I could think was “wow.” They say she’s the more serious one in her family, but – with the help of Mom – we figured out just the right things to get her laughing. I won’t tell a soul, but I can say it involved a belly button and was just what the doctor ordered when we’d exhausted so many of these amazing “serious” looks. By the end of our little adventure, she was flexing muscles and telling me where she wanted to shoot next.
Now that’s my kid of girl.

I think this age for custom child photography is one of the best … girls, especially, because they’re fairly tuned in to fashion, are developing lots of their own thoughts and ideas, but still have that little girl “free spirit.” Below are a few of my favorites from a very big gallery of gorgeous Miss Natalie.
On another note: if you’re thinking Fall session, don’t hesitate a second longer to call and schedule. September is nearly full and October isn’t far behind. If you have availability for a weekday session, more options exist.
