Emily: Senior 2011 l Kansas high school senior photographer
The good news: I’ve finally completed my transition from the PC to the iMAC. The bad news: that “little” transition means I’m still digging myself out of the blogging hole, but I’m slowly chipping away at the backlog of awesome sessions over the past few months.
Even better news: I LOVE this HUGE screen on the iMAC. And I love the wonderful Miss Emily and her senior session too! I squealed a little (ok … a LOT) when they emailed the pic of the vintage crinoline outfit they’d found out shopping for her session. In addition to her own love of vintage things, she’s got a passion for the camera, too. A girl truly after my own heart.
Good luck with your senior year, Emily!

Transformation l Kansas City lifestyle photographer
There really was one word that kept going through my mind as I captured these next images.
Transformation.
I’d never seen his “before” images prior to losing weight, but I was absolutely intrigued by the prospect of crafting a session for a guy that wasn’t a high school senior, wasn’t looking for business head shots, and wasn’t a commercial client. It was a session “just because” he wanted to mark this important milestone in his life. Over the course of our planning, his story came together.
And I left that morning hoping that he walked away not only knowing – but, through pictures that truly showcase his personality – seeing - just how amazing he is inside and out.
(And, in case you’re wondering, girls: he’s single. Wink.)

Gretchen: Class of 2011 l Kansas high school senior photographer
I’m trying out a new blog “frame” (I promise to eventually settle on one … this one might just be it) and who better to showcase than one of my recent Kansas City high school seniors: Gretchen. After back-to-back newborns, I was loving the time I got to spend with her and her mom on a beautiful Saturday morning. I love fashion, love fashion photography even more and definitely get excited for the seniors. While I will shoot as many outfits as we can work in, I’ve found the perfect number seems to be about 4 or 5 for the girls and 2-3 for the guys. Gretchen and her mom did a fabulous job creating both variety, color and “texture” in her different outfits – all in a way that reflects Gretchen’s own personal style. After all, that’s what senior sessions are all about – showcasing your personal style and showing off your personality.
Thank you Kathleen and Gretchen for wonderful time well spent – I enjoyed every minute of our session!

I had a blast during this session, which included trekking around downtown to capture this brother and sister (and their fabulous mom.) There are all kinds of little ones on this blog, but I love it when parents and “older kids” come back for a session “just because” … no particular reason, just a wonderful opportunity to freeze the moments and capture life through pictures.

Twins. (Really!) l Kansas high school senior photographer
Typically, when you hear me talk about twins, it’s the freshly hatched kind, complete with tiny toes and fingers. But these guys were a nice change of pace from my newborn work. I first met their mom when I called her to see if I could shoot a few sessions on this wonderful old vintage tractor they had for sale. One thing led to another and I’m so glad I met their family.
And, yes, as different as they are, they really are twins. This fall, they’ll be at separate colleges, too. But I have no doubt they’ll each be doing amazing things. We have a ton of images from their session, but I really am trying to get caught up on the blog, so here are a few of my favorites (and the old blog image frames – LOL – they are so much easier and I’m too tired this evening to mess around with the new frames!)

She’s ‘Bama bound l Kansas high school senior photographer
I’m behind on sneak peeks, but hoping to get caught up in the next few days. To get things rolling, I’ll start with Abby … gorgeous, smart, oh-so-stylish and ready with that smile right on cue. To quote her exactly, “I love pictures.”
With a model like this, who wouldn’t? High school senior photography sessions typically yield double the final images of a regular Signature Session simply due to the many different outfits. I don’t like to put a limit on the number of outfits, but definitely have ideas about ways to get a variety of looks into one session. Abby is a perfect example of that! I have too many favorites from this one, so this sneak will be longer than usual. Enjoy!
P.S. I’m back to my former simple blog image borders – trying out several others the past few posts and decided I like the simple ones!

LOVE her shoes!!
