And so long as we’re talking about smiles, you know what comes next, right?

Have a vintage Coke and a smile … (I couldn’t resist)

… and enjoy beautiful Ryann’s first official photoshoot.

As it turns out, cheeky grins and belly laughs really are contagious.

(Warning: The following images may cause a sudden desire to procreate or, at a minimum, run to your nearest Etsy vendor for one of these adorable pettirompers and a hot pink tutu.)

I shot their maternity session about three weeks before her arrival and, despite some serious heat and humidity, we truly had fun with our shots and captured the love they have for one another as well as the anticipation of the big birth day. In our pre-session chats, I found out they are both avid tennis players and wanted to incorporate something along those lines. I went into the session with the vision for that shot, but a quick stop to cool off (and get a smoothie) revealed that vibrant blue wall and, instantly I knew we were in the right place.

Fast forward 4 weeks to baby Emmersyn and I’d say their hearts are beyond full. She is one of the most beautiful newborn girls I’ve ever photographed and slept the entire session, short of a few shots at the very end when we got to see those big eyes. I kept telling mom, that at 7 lbs. 9 oz., she was deceptively small to the eye, especially when she was all curled up on my chest for the next pose. It’s a long post with a ton of images, but I had so many favorites!

That hair. Those lips. (Sigh)

For her newborn session, I asked her parents to bring that beautiful pink velvet chair to my studio and then secretly shed a few tears  when they had to take it home – it’s my perfect, perfect, signature pink! So, it made sense that we might show how much she’s grown (and how much she still loves that chair) at her one-year session. Needless to say, she brought her best smiles, bright eyes and fun expressions, too. I love the colors and textures of this session so much.

Happy “One Year” to Miss Ingrid – here are a few of my favorites from her session:

Sweet baby Andrew and his adoring parents visited me a few months back and we enjoyed one of the most laid-back, easy-flowing newborn sessions. Dad is a huge fan of the game of baseball and, on one of my last antique mall trips, I picked up a vintage ball and mitt to go along with the tiny vintage bats I already had in my prop stash. The end result was a favorite shot, among many. I love incorporating items that are sentimental to the family, like the turtle quilt below handmade by his grandma.

And, if you look closely, you can see not one, but two sleepy grins below. What a sweet boy.

Well, I don’t know what is. She’s clearly very introverted (not). And, as if super cute isn’t enough, she’s an overachiever … at six months, she was standing and holding onto things as good as any 9/10-month old I’ve seen. This has only happened to me twice in my photography career.

She gave us  plenty of sleepy grins at her newborn session, too.

Say “good morning” to Anna – the one with the contagious gummy smile and bright eyes.
