He slept so soundly during our session I had to pinch myself once or twice as we went from setup to setup with ease. I know there’s a little stinker in my future somewhere, so if it happens to be your newborn, don’t feel bad; I simply had it coming. LOL.

Meet handsome little Jamie, complete with that soft, dreamy swirl of newborn hair. I’ll bet if you close your eyes and get close enough to the screen, you can almost smell his newborn goodness.

Some favorites from our session:

She didn’t make a peep while we were preparing for this shot and I think it’s one of my all-time favorites. You might recall her beautiful mom and big sisters from their colorful maternity session back in August. Having styled that “bed in nature” scene, my mind was already on to the next creative thing we could accomplish for her newborn session.

While I was truly excited to meet her, there was no doubt in my mind she’d be as charming as her two big sisters. Little Francie Jude (don’t you just love her name?!) didn’t disappoint. You’ll be seeing more of her during her first year right here on the blog.

Some of my favorites:

I think I love this one just as much in color as black and white:

Sanah.

I think she’s simply stunning. And with one look at mama, that bright-eyed little apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

This was the session that almost didn’t happen due to afternoon thunderstorms that freakishly began 30 minutes before we were supposed to shoot. They were in town from D.C. for a long weekend of wedding festivities and time wasn’t abundant, so I began driving toward our location all the while watching the skies. It was bright and sunny in Missouri at her hotel and dark pounding rain near me with the clouds shifting quickly to the east. Lucky for us, we got a 30 minute break in the darkness and rain which is long enough to capture amazing images with a happy, laughing, inquisitive six-month-old.

Enjoy some of my favorites of beautiful Sanah and my dear friend Nabeeha.

Ok. I lied in my earlier post today. Emma may have just met her match when it comes to big baby blues. Lucas just turned one as well and I shot their newborn sessions on the same day which left me completely marveled at my good luck because they both slept the entire time like little champs. (That sooo never happens!)

Even though I do natural light and studio newborns, many of my favorite sessions are natural light sessions in and around Kansas City. We shot this one at The Nelson.

Lucas was just as busy as Emma during his session – which is what you would expect when walking and exploring is completely new and fascinating. Dad was also home from military training so it was an extra special opportunity to include him in our session.

I (and so many of you, too) have watched her grow this entire first year as a part of my Baby’s First Year Program, and now she’s one and back for what I believe just may be our best session yet. Emma celebrated her one-year session decked out in the cutest Matilda Jane outfits and plenty of big smiles.  Have you ever seen a pair of brighter, bigger blue eyes?

Happy birthday, Emma!
