Fresh squeezed l Kansas City baby photographer
The title says it, folks.
Every scrumptious little roll and baby chub. And those pinchable cheeks.
This is adorable Jack at 6 months. Super smiley. Super happy. And fresh squeezed.

Check out the lone curl on top of his head. Love it!

Walkin’ on sunshine l Kansas City family photographer
“Walkin’ on Sunshine” kept popping into my head while editing this family photography session. You know the one by Katrina and the Waves. And just in case you’re too young to remember, here it is. (Don’t be mad if it’s stuck in your thoughts for the rest of the night.)
We shot this one just before sunset and I’m sure the inspiration for that little number in my head has something to do with the wash of warm light all around us, not to mention the happiness emanating from this family. Love them!
Below are many of my favorites from their session. I’m slowly getting through the backlog of blog postings. To that, I say “And don’t it feel good!”

I had so much fun with the haze from the sun, the back lighting and a watercolor texture added in post-processing. I can see these displayed as gallery-wrapped canvases.

Don’t mess with the curls, people l Kansas City child photographer
I’d love to tell you I was running the show during this session, but that would just be a lie. That said, I can tell you I came well prepared.
You see, I have one of these. Nearly the same make and model to be exact.
The same hands-on-hips-tell-you-how-it’s-gonna-be little firecracker. Preschool-going-on-20. Yep, that one.
Minus those beautiful golden curls.
And, hey, the picture says it all. “Don’t mess with the curls, people.”

Sweet boy l Kansas City baby photographer
Here’s another sweet boy I had the pleasure of photographing recently. I don’t always promise a sibling shot, but am loving the cooperation we got from big brother for this one. Enjoy a handful of my favorites from his session!

I’m a sucker for those little dream-filled smiles …

A nice change of pace l Kansas City child photographer
My to do list was long this weekend, including staging all of Bella’s clothing/toys/baby gear from the past four years to sell it in an “un-garage” style kind of way. Whew! So now, I’m on to blogging – seven sessions to catch you up on and I’m going to attempt to share one every day this week. We’ll see if I’m successful. The writer in me would love to pen a novel about each one of them. The photographer in me (and the crazed mom who desperately wants to make it to bed at a reasonable hour tonight) says keep it short and let the images do the talking. I’ll probably reach some sort of compromise with myself as the week goes on.
For now, enjoy sweet Payton – you’ve seen her on the blog and my business cards before. She was my original hot pink tutu girl at 9 months. Now, she’s officially a “big girl” about to be a big sister. After several months of cooler weather studio sessions, tons of newborns and lots of shooting on location downtown and other places, it was nice to get back to a simple, natural light photography session at a client’s home just capturing the many expressions of a child. Enjoy!

Another gorgeous newborn girl l Kansas City newborn photographer
I’ve got six sessions waiting to be blogged and am so excited to share this one. It’s been about a 50/50 split lately of boys to girls, but sweet Meredith gets the prize for the most hair in May. I love it! She slept like a dream during our session which made my job so much easier. Dad served as spotter for the shots on the suitcase (just in case anyone out there is wondering if we just planted her on top and left her up there). It helps so much to have an extra set of hands at the ready to ensure we don’t compromise safety during a session.
These are just a few of my favorites – you’ll be seeing her here during her first year as well. Congratulations to mom and dad for a job well done!
