… they’re just one boy away from having their own little Husker basketball team. This beautiful boy joins three older brothers (including a set of twins … they definitely have their hands and hearts full right now). He was determined to stay wide awake for most of our newborn session and is one of the strongest little kickers I’ve had in awhile. (Hey, if not basketball, then perhaps a career on special teams?). But with a little patience, a little nursing and a warm room, we wore him down.

Meet six-day-old Brody. A whopping one-hour labor-to-delivery for mom (yep, that’ s not a typo … one hour, people). Littlest brother to assume the trademark family cowlick. Future Husker if Grandpa has anything to say about it. Simply perfect in every way.

Had to try the basket out on the barnboard floor and love it both ways:

Quick note to expectant moms and their family members: Newborn sessions are best done within the first 5-10 days of life, so it’s important to book your session while you’re in your last trimester to ensure a spot and ensure we can capture those curly, sleepy newborn images more easily. You’d be surprised at what a difference a few days can mean to how smoothly a session goes.

Remember his newborn session?

Well, he’s 6-months-old now and doing all of those wonderful half-year things, like sitting up, being fascinated by his toes, making great eye contact. Oh yea. There’s also that complete and total delight thing. The one that brings on those big “I’m so proud of myself” grins.

Meet Lucas. Just one of the hundreds of reasons why I love photographing six-month-olds. (Note: this was my first session in the  studio using studio lighting. Everything to date has been 100 percent natural light, but I think I’m really going to like having the option to shoot studio as well.)

If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear he was posing in this next one:

He’s too little to know the story behind the red shoes and the girl from Kansas, but as happy as he was during his six-month session, I’d say there really is no place like home. This was an in-home, natural light session and I got a chance to break out the vintage scale and a fun pair of baby legs once again. Mom pulled those fierce patent leather peep toes out and I’m certain I squeeled just a little bit.

Meet Maddox. Classic baby. Vintage baby. Happy, happy baby. Photographer’s dream.

It’s been a super busy day, but I did conduct a random drawing last night for the final winner in my 2010 Image of Year promotion. The final prize is  a $500 Gift Card toward a 2010 Signature Session with me. The prize goes to: Brittney Henderson. Congratulations, Brittney!

And a huge thank you to everyone who participated in my first big contest of this type. I had no idea what to expect and was simply blown away by the response. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
