Not a bad way to kick off the New Year …
Meet Greer and all of her squishy, wrinkly, fuzzy, curly newborn goodness. G’head. Put your nose up to the screen. Can’t you just smell that new baby smell?
She’s the lone girl in a string of new boys (four boys to be exact) just born this week and soon-to-be-born in the next four weeks (that’s about one a week). You’ll see each of them right here on the blog. I LOVE the way this year is shaping up already!
If you’re an expectant mom, it’s not too soon to get on the calendar with a Signature Newborn Session or a First Year Program. Newborn slots fill quickly and it’s best to do maternity (if you choose) between 32-36 weeks. All 2010 First Year Programs feature your choice of 25 custom-designed, press-printed birth announcements OR three cute little custom-designed accordian wallet books as well as session prints (sizes and types vary depending on program level). Newborn sessions and First Year Programs also make perfect shower gifts new parents will treasure for a lifetime – ask me about gift certificates or how to setup a registry.
Now back to gorgeous Greer and her family. Big brother had the most amazing eyes, too! A handful of my favorites from her session:

I adore those little back wrinkles!

MINI SESSIONS 2010: Subscribe to the blog OR be a fan on Facebook to get details
I plan to schedule mini sessions about once a quarter in 2010, so watch the blog for details and how to sign up. They’ll run about 30 minutes per client and will take place at a location/date/time of my choosing and will be scheduled first-come first-served … a great way to get pics in at a discounted rate for those occasions that don’t warrant a fully-customized session. Mini sessions won’t be available for newborn sessions which have their own special requirements and “flow.” Beginning this month, details and special promotions will only be available on the blog and on Facebook, so if you haven’t already subscribed to get regular blog updates via email OR signed up as a fan on my Facebook page, it will be worth your while to do so, I promise!
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming …. three of my favorite kids. I’ve known each of them since birth and they’re about to welcome a new baby brother in February. My favorites from their mini session and the resulting holiday card (names blurred for privacy):

Vintage baby l Kansas City baby photographer
If her session were cold-weather comfort food, then I’d have to say we tossed in a little bit of this and a little bit of that to create something that warms the soul. I’ve photographed a LOT of six month old babies and I have to say this was a first in that she was standing for nearly her entire session. Typically, this milestone is all about how proud they are sitting up all by themselves, but I’d be willing to bet she’s walking by our 9-month next session. Just a hunch.
Until then, enjoy some of my favorites from our morning together. Over the holiday break, I had a chance to play a bit with some fun vintage and floral textures in Photoshop to create art on a blank wall and change the entire look of an image digitally. I’m definitely going to do more of this moving forward because I love the uniqueness of it.

Yes, she is standing here. All by herself. What you don’t see is mom’s hand just out of frame down below waiting for the moment she decided to take off running (I’m all about safety during my sessions). I think she looks like she’s saying, “Girlfriend, let me tell where I got these cute boots!”

Some fun playing with vintage toning and a pink background texture:

All the parents out there will recall that stage where your little one found his/her voice and was overjoyed at the sound of shrieking loudly. This was one of those moments and I love it. The vintage toy has been in their family for decades and passed down from generation to generation:

I ‘heart’ baby piggies. (And I think there’s something wrong with anyone who feels otherwise. )

Until next post -
