He brought his “A” game l Kansas City baby photographer

We weren’t lacking for big smiles or gorgeous colors this session! And thank goodness it was an unseasonably warm fall afternoon among several frigid, rainy fall weekends. You’ve seen him on the blog since his newborn session and he’s 6-months old now. I love this age … they are full of smiles, usually sitting up or very close to it and generally just happy babies.  We also captured several shots for their family holiday card (I will be sharing many of the cards in a few weeks once folks have had a chance to mail them out). Enjoy Brekken and his family!

With her toes in the water … l Kansas High School Senior Photographer

we kicked off her 2010 high school senior session. I’m nearly positive she thought I was out of mind when I explained my vision for this first shot even before we got to the little stream. But having nursed my share of blisters and sore arches for a fabulous pair of heels, I know that there are many things we girls will  do in the name of fashion …. or, in this case, senior portraits. Ironically, when asked about her favorite music, she quickly replied “Toes in the Water” by the Zac Brown Band. Coincidence? Hmmmm.

So was being barefoot in an icy stream worth it? Oh. Yea.

I have too many favorites, so be prepared to do a little scrolling. I’m also linking her slideshow of all session images below. Just click on the arrow in the middle to play. So many of her expressions – the smile, too — remind me a bit of a cross between Uma Thurman and Julia Roberts. So beautiful.

Meet Taylor. Class of 2010. Crusader to the core. Spirit on the Friday night sidelines. Urban fashionista with a country girl heart. Big sister. The “smart one.” And the “pretty one.” All in one.

The big green ugly l Kansas City family photographer

At least that’s the nickname my truly talented photographer friend, Carmen, gave to this old rockstar thrift store find.  Thank you so much, Carmen!

That said, there’s absolutely nothing ugly about this beautiful family.

I was so committed to using this on one of our last good Fall days that I rearranged the garage to fit my husband’s truck all the way in with couch in back and truck bed down the night before. At 11 p.m. I’m a lot of things … often crazy … slightly messy … but obsessive/compulsively fiercely committed to a vision once it enters my head.

Enjoy this sneak peek of their session – I honestly couldn’t pick just a few favorites, so I closed my eyes and just hovered the mouse over a handful. Watch for one more session on the Big Green Ugly, then more vintage red velvet.

Lastly, Taylor:  Guess whose images I’m working on right now? (wink)

A boy, a girl and a little blue chair l Kansas City child photographer

It was just a sunny Friday morning. Just a big golden field. Just a little blue chair. Just two beautiful children and their gorgeous mom.

Just perfect.
