Custom birth announcements: Chic with a touch of shabby {Kansas City newborn photographer}
I love incorporating elements of the baby’s nursery into their custom-designed birth announcements and this one was no exception. The bottom border is a shot of Emma’s crib bumper pattern and the colors are strewn throughout her nursery. It’s a 5×7 flat front and back design on pearl press-printed card stock which gives everything just a hint of sheen when you tilt it in the light. 100 percent girly girl … 100 percent chic … 100 percent “Emma.” I have several collages and a few more custom designed elements to share when things slow down a bit, but this one was sitting on my desk begging to be blogged.

The girl with the curls … {Kansas City baby photographer}
… stole my heart with her big blue eyes and golden ‘do. You might remember sweet Anna from her 3-month photography session, complete with vintage toy box and sock monkeys. Well, she’s a very happy, very ‘clappy,’ constantly-on-the-move-I’ve-got-places-to-go-and-people-to-see toddler now. And she’s got a head of curls and a big toothy grin sure to melt even the crabbiest demeanor. We took our session to the park and broke in a new favorite velvet chair, as well as revisited her little pink rocking chair from our first session. Oh yea … the sock monkeys came along for the fun, too. Enjoy the many expressions (and little piggies) of one-year-old Anna!

If I didn’t know any better … {Kansas City baby photographer}
I’d say she was trying to get a little “cheeky” with me. (Wink.)
She’s six months old now and, after conducting our newborn and three month baby sessions indoors, we were definitely ready to pump up the color, break in a few new props and soak up the beautiful weather.
I ADORE sundresses at this age complete with baby chubs and little piggies peeking out. She reminds me a Betty Boop doll in the red dress! Enjoy this dark-eyed beauty and our morning in the sun! Next up on the blog: Anna and all of her curls and two gorgeous little newborns.

He’s found his toes {Kansas City baby photographer}
One of my favorite parts about the 3-month baby photography sessions is the fact that most have discovered their toes and are completely fascinated by them. Brekken was right on track and boy has he grown since his newborn session! Even though mom would like to think he was a little stinker for our entire session, I’d say he humored us with a variety of terrific expressions. And we seriously tested his patience toward the end when he really just wanted to snuggle up and go to sleep. I’m loving the zebra sling best, I think! Enjoy my favorites and watch for 6-month-old Kenadie up next.

I did say baby boom, right? {Kansas City newborn photographer}
Imagine my surprise and delight when, the same day I photographed Emma (see next post down), I also met handsome little Lucas. Equally squishy, equally sleepy and oh-so-gorgeous. I’ll probably jinx my next two newborns coming up in a week – both were born Tuesday – by typing this, but these two were absolutely perfect as far as newborn photography sessions go. And seriously. Look at that hair. 100 percent rock star. To quote his own mom in her text to me from the hospital, “He has more hair than (his dad).”
My own baby was pretty bald for quite awhile, so the fascination with newborn hair continues!
Lucas arrived three weeks early … just a week and a half after my sunrise maternity session with his beautiful mom. I love that we captured that final week of her pregnancy. Next up on the blog: 3-month-old Brekken and six-month-old Kenadie. In the meantime, enjoy sweet Lucas.

The wrap above is another unique creation from Britanie at My Pinkytoes Baby. And the fabulous blue “pom” hat below was made by AngelBeez Sassy Stitching. You can visit both of their shops on Etsy by clicking on their business names. I can’t say enough about their creativity and beautiful handmade items for newborns and babies! Definitely pay them a visit!

Must be some pretty deep thoughts going on in that little head … I’ve had days like this, but they usually involve a glass of wine and a Calgon bath.

It’s officially a baby boom {Kansas City newborn photographer}
Move over Gus, KC’s got a new “mane” squeeze and she goes by the name of Emma. I fell in love with this little bundle the minute dad handed her over to me. There’s just something about those little back wrinkles, tiny toes, sleepy smiles and newborn fuzz.
Oh. And of course, that hair. This was a dream newborn session – she slept the entire time and fussed just once toward the end. And those of you who’ve been following this blog for awhile now know exactly what I was thinking when I saw that bookcase in her room. Mom (who looked FABULOUS just one week after delivery) provided the finishing touches with a hot pink tutu. Enjoy this large share of some of my favorites.

Look at that little smile on her face in the next shot:
