“Family” {Kansas City family photographer}
I’ve been on such a roll with the littlest ones lately (which I love, but variety helps to keep the ideas fresh), that it was a great change of pace to photograph older siblings and their beautiful mom. No diaper changes required for this more traditional session, no wraps, slings or baskets. Just a loving family and the sentimental elements of their church as our background. It was my pleasure to meet them and spend a little time on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Enjoy some of my favorites from their session.

Of sugar and spice and everything nice … {Kansas City newborn photographer}
At 2 1/2 weeks old, she had every intention of staying awake and outlasting us … but I knew better. In the end, we had to pull out the big guns – a.k.a. “Grandma” and a good rocking chair. Then she was all ours … putty in our hands … and our hats … and our slings. All shots were done in the client’s home with natural light and my 24-70/2.8L.
And, even though Dad says he didn’t like being in front of the camera, I think these peeks from their session tell a completely different story. He may not like getting his picture taken, but man oh man, is he quite taken with her. Moreover, I think shot number three is proof positive that those smiles aren’t always ‘just gas’ and they really do laugh with us (or merely at us) even at 2 1/2 weeks old.
Meet Josie. Beautiful hair, gorgeous little baby chubs and the latest set of blue eyes to grace this blog. Stay tuned as I switch gears this week and next to shoot several bigger kids and high school seniors and commercial photography for several Kansas City corporate clients.
