Yes, they really are … {Kansas City engagement+couples photography}
this beautiful in person! And they’re two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. As of yet, my business plan doesn’t include me officially venturing into weddings … but that doesn’t mean I don’t love a creative engagement session and I’ve been fortunate to have captured several recently.
The two are getting married in February, so we headed downtown for a very urban engagement session. I love finding new textures, chippy paint backdrops and vintage colors to play with. Lucky for me, so did they. With models like this, I might as well have put the camera on auto pilot. There’s really no way to take a bad shot! These are some of my favorites as I get further into post-processing. Watch the blog because it’s highly likely there will be more later this week when I’m finished.

From this …. {Kansas City baby photography}

to this:

I’d say the trade-off was well worth it!
This little gal goes on record for being the most alert newborn I’ve ever photographed. We always try to plan the session within the first two weeks of life (first 10 days preferably) so that baby is still in that newborn sleep state and easily “molded” into curly positions. But little Esmee had other plans for us. And once again, we captured what I’d like to believe is the first smile. (I know, I know … keep dreaming.) Either way, it’s clear where she feels most comfortable — snuggled right up against mom. So here are many of my favorites from our session with this little beauty. You’ll get to see her often over the next year as she grows. Enjoy!

A few more that caught my eye {Kansas City child+family photography}
I just finished post-processing this session — their earlier sneak peeks can be found about three posts down. I couldn’t pass these by without sharing. Enjoy!

Sometimes they surprise you {Kansas City family+child photography}
Kids … that is.
Take these two, for instance. I’m pretty sure mom and dad were expecting boys to just be boys, probably even expecting to engage in major bribery for just one good smile. Those of you with kids these ages know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m pretty sure they were expecting a more challenging photo session. And I’m pretty sure after seeing these images, they’re going to be surprised. Even better, I’m pretty sure two little guys are going to be high-fivin’ and saying, “I told you so” because they knew all along how much fun it was going to be striking poses, splashing with the ducks and lovin’ on mom. These guys were soooo good! I think the world of this family and am so happy they called me to capture this moment in time.
Enjoy some of my favorites from their fall session. There are so many more where these came from!
