This sneak peek definitely falls into the category of “I wonder what she’s thinking …” When my daughter was born, some of my favorite moments were watching her while she slept and wondering what in the world she might be thinking as those little grins would curl her lips. Now that she’s a toddler, my husband and I have a pretty good idea she was plotting nearly a year of 30 minute naps (to the minute) and future escapades scaling the highest points of our home without a net. So I laughed out loud while I was post-processing these images of little Anna. Just three months old, but ever so expressive with every part of her little being.
I enjoyed this session so much, especially watching dad work his magic on her tummy troubles. If I had to caption the first image, it would have to be “he really can move mountains.” She was truly hanging on his every word.
During sessions with the littlest ones, I often stop and tell mom to “do what you do” … which basically means “feel free to pick her up, calm her, give her a pacifier, change her, nurse her” … whatever it takes to comfort and care for them as I’m shooting away. I’m so used to saying that, but this time, mom said to me, “He (dad) has his own little ways.” And it was truly special to watch. Congrats to mom and dad on this long-awaited, much-loved beautiful bundle. Enjoy some of the images that made me smile and watch for a slideshow this week and more sessions throughout the next year as Anna grows.

And it appears it is not illegal to be this cute. Not in any state.
Meet Emma and Calvin. Future supermodel (check out those eyes!) and first-birthday-boy-turned-rock-star. (Don’t you just love his little retro sneakers! I had no idea they made them that small, but they’re just the ticket for a little man on the move.) We got together at the park for some pre-birthday party images and, hands-down, the big hit of the morning was nothing more than a green lollipop and all its sticky splendor. Enjoy this sneak peek!

I say this only because earlier in the year I was able to post sneak peeks along with an entire gallery all at the same time. But we’ve truly hit the thick of what those in the photography world call “the busy season.” And it doesn’t slow down until January. Fortunately, we get to work with awesome subjects like these two and it really doesn’t seem fair to call it “work” … although, trust me, a lot of care and feeding goes into the images prior to their debut on the blog or in a client gallery. So this post is truly unique because it’s my first real sneak peek in a long time.
And, by the power vested in me with my right hand on the photographer’s oath of truth, honor and Photoshop justice, I swear I did not touch the color of their eyes! They have God, mom and dad to thank for those gorgeous peepers. Enjoy the sneak peek and watch for even more from this session and others this week … which reminds me … I gotta get back to work!

Last weekend, I was invited to photograph some of my favorite people as they gathered together for a long-awaited wedding. The ceremony itself was very intimate (immediate family only), but they still wanted to capture the love they share as a family during the pre-wedding festivities. As a result, this post will officially go down as my longest “sneak peek” to date … there were too many favorites for me to show you to narrow them down any further and the entire collection is in the slideshow as well, so be sure to check it out for more fun moments with this family.
If you know me, you know I love everything about the wedding planning process … the design choices, the tiny details, the hope and promise it sparks in a strangers’ eyes just by saying, “We’re getting married.” And my friends have heard me say “there’s nothing better than a bride” more times than they can count. It’s true regardless of whether it’s her first trip down the aisle or a second, much-anticipated embark on life’s next big adventure. It’s like a super power emanating from within … a long, gorgeous, lace-trimmed shield daring any and all bad vibes to “bring it.” It’s the world’s most amazing if-only-we-could-bottle-it beauty serum and hypnotic tonic all in one.
Don’t believe me? Just ask Judy and Tony and their wonderful brood. Parents. Grandparents. World travelers. “Passionately-in-love”-ers. Newliweds. And now … Family.
