I promised I would have these up before I went to bed tonight and … well … let’s just say I go to bed a little later than a lot of people most nights. So, yes, it’s 12:49 a.m., but my head hasn’t touched the pillow yet, so this post still counts!
Just a little over a year apart in age, these two were way more like best friends than siblings. Watching them together was like watching my own visions of what it must be like to have a sister. And I’ll bet if you ask Mom, she’ll say the first image (one of my very favorites from this session) depicts their personalities to a “t.” We had so much fun during this session, complete with dresses perfect for formal portraits and twirling barefoot. You’ve heard the saying, “Dance like no one’s watching …” Well, we did. Right out in the middle of Union Station. The weather outside was wet and miserable, but you wouldn’t have known it from the amazing moments we captured inside. Below are some of my favorites.
So it’s with great swirls and twirls and polka dots, that I proudly introduce you to Ava and Luci. Resident girly girls with a sense of adventure. Proud parents of Boots, the hamster. Champion bottom-of-the-dress swishers. And sisters.

I had the pleasure of capturing what it means to be 10 weeks old last week and, in the process, met the sweetest little man who – without a doubt – is absolutely in awe of his mommy. His face simply lit up at her every word … something that I won’t ever tire of witnessing. The beautiful rocking chair is a family heirloom and it made the perfect spot for a little morning catnap and amazing images with the colors in his nursery. Mom and Dad are terrific decorators! A huge THANKS to my dear friend, Barb, for knitting the colorful blue wrap. I had been waiting for the perfect session to make its debut and this was truly it. I look forward to capturing this little guy as he grows over the next year, so watch for more sessions.
In the meantime, meet Brendan and enjoy some of the images that made my heart happy from his session.

A gazillion puddles, two giraffes and one little boy
What do you do when it’s picture time and the rain looks like it’s going to spoil everything? Well, if you’re 2 1/2, you invite a couple of yellow giraffes to go puddle jumping. I mean seriously, can you imagine anything more exciting to a little boy than running, jumping and splashing about?! We had a blast, but you don’t need me to tell you that. Just look at his face. These are some of my all-time favorites. And there are a ton more in his slideshow.
Meet Lucas. “Backyardigans” fan, sweet little brother, Mister Smarty Pants, breaker of hearts and champion puddle jumper.
(Oh yeah. He’s also the boy my husband says is only allowed to play with Bella until he’s 14.)

Not in the sad kind of way. So blue in the happiest of sparkly blue eyes kind of way. I’m thinking it’s going to be mighty hard to say no to this one when he asks for just about anything. You might remember him from his newborn session last Fall. His beautiful mom also sat for a maternity session as well. For some of his portraits, she wanted a more traditional look (complete with a mocha/sepia toned final image), so we set up the black seamless paper and backdrop stand, found a big, bright bay window with lots of natural light streaming in and had a ball. Accompanied by his football and basketball, little Kian did, too. Enjoy a few of my favorites and a pair of the biggest, bluest eyes I’ve had the pleasure of capturing.

Until graduation! And what better way to pass the time than an incredible photo session. Below are some of my favorites from our shoot and there are many! The slideshow has them all. With the constant threat of rain over our heads last week – literally – we were spared the drops and given nature’s very own soft light diffuser: Clouds and overcast skies. It was simply a beautiful afternoon and so was this senior. She’s got a million dollar smile and an eye for the camera as well. Rumor has it she’s been accepted at an excellent art institute to pursue her passion of photography.
I can only imagine she’ll be as successful behind the lens as she is in front of it. Thank you, Amanda and family, for the time well spent. Enjoy your images!

The blue chair sessions
It’s hard to believe these little guys from an awesome session earlier this year are now four months old and full of cute little baby chubs. You gotta love those rolls! They’re one of my favorite things about this age. Since the focus of our last session was solely on the two very new babies in the house, we definitely wanted to capture big sister this time around. She has the most expressive eyes. One of my favorite images is the very first one … yes, she’s got a tight grip on her younger charge … it’s hard work being a big sister after all, keeping both babies upright for pictures. (Look at the expression on Bennett’s face — he wasn’t harmed by the way, but he definitely wasn’t going anywhere fast.) We suspect that both boys just might be teething, so we grabbed our best shots when and where we could. It just so happens the most amazing natural light was right in front of this blue chair. Even though they didn’t feel super, the boys didn’t disappoint. These are just a few of my favorites. Check out the rest in the slideshow and watch the blog for more of these little guys as their first year goes on.
